Here is What You'll Learn

Attorneys from Los Angeles have begun recruiting visually-impaired clients to file lawsuits against Kern County businesses because those businesses have websites that do not comply with web accessibility standards arguably required under case law interpreting the Americans with Disabilities Act. This webinar will help you understand why this is happening, the potential costs to you and other local businesses, and how you can defend yourself from this litigation risk.

How you can evaluate the risk of a web accessibility lawsuit

In this webinar, we'll break down the costs of compliance with the potential costs of litigation, so you'll leave with an understanding of the real world risk for you and your business from a web accessibility lawsuit.

How do I fix my website so that I reduce the risk of litigation?

The Americans with Disabilities Act doesn't provide direct guidance on what is required in the area of web markup and design. However, in this webinar, we'll give you an overview of the current standards and our predictions about the future.

Will the threat evolve beyond screen reader compatibility?

This is probably just the tip of a titanic iceberg in liability for businesses associated with online activities including, but certainly not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act. We'll share what we are concerned about as future digital risks for businesses.

What is motivating these lawsuits?

The cynical answer is attorneys' fees. But, that's not the only answer. Disabled plaintiffs proceeding under the Americans with Disabilities Act alone are not typically awarded damages under the Act. Understanding their participation and the purposes of the Act can result in better business decisions.
